LIVING 120 Years? YES!
Science says it is an obtainable goal!
WITH “STAY YOUNG” PRESCRIRTIONS:
Forget the aging factors like heredity you have no control over and cannot change. It’s far more important to concentrate on the ones you can influence. Some of these, like taking anti-aging drugs, like MFIII from Switzerland, for cell therapy, once seemed ‘far out’ but are already coming closer to reality Others are much more familiar, like smoking, exercise, eating habits, and emotional outlook. Life-style factors, like those mentioned yesterday. have the power to add or subtract youthful years, and there are everyday influences that we can control.
“LIFESTYE FACTORS” have the power to add or subtract youthful years – and they aare everyday influences we control. When you are young you can smoke heavily, even chew tobacco, eat sausages, hotcakes with lots of “Old Cabin” syrup, for breakfast, then a “Big Mac” with French Fries and Coke for lunch, and for supper you eat several pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, white bread, and followed by pie or cake and ice cream …a ‘typical’ American diet, right?
What’s wrong with that diet? Almost everything! Every meal is full of bleached white flour, too much sugar, too many empty carbohydrates, the hamburger is loaded with nitrates, sodium and fat, the “French fries are delicious with cancer-causing chemicals from being deep fried in trans fat. which causes free radicals and cellular damage, and the sugary deserts overload the pancreas. There are no fruits, enzymes, or vitamins in such a diet…but if you are a teenager, or young adult, you can eat like this, munch on sugar cookies, stay ip late playing cards while drinking beer with your friends, and seemingly life is great…
but one day you have chest pains, and your doctor tells you your blood pressure has gone to 190 over 110 and you need a $35,000 Bypass operation immediately….or just as bad, you have lung cancer from smoking. Then you learn there is no medical cure for lung cancer. You have two months to live. You think I am telling some off-the-wall fantasy to scare you? Well, this ‘fantasy’ lifestyle is killing about a million Americans every year!.
People often break one bad habit, and then make another. Don’t smoke; do exercise. While it’s easy to say, it’s not so easy to do. But thousands of people do manage to make and break these two habits – and dramatically increase their odds of more and healthier years as a result. Don’t give up trying. Correct your diet. Apply common sense to all your day’s activity. When you are 65 years old, what you did as 25 to 35 seems very important, and your level of health at 65 takes on a new meaning! Too late? Maybe not. As this author has said, I am nearing 86, so I speak from experience…and my diet and lifestyle has become extremely important. I am trying to slow down the effects of aging. The point I am making to you who are younger is to take action now…don’t wait…to correct your lifestyle, to live longer.
The latest news about heath is proper exercise. This does not mean lifting weights in a gymn. The exercise that ahs the greatest benefit is that which reduces your risk of a heart attack, not by running on a treadmill, not aerobics, but what is called “Pace Exercise” which exercises your lungs, your heart, and all your body muscles. It is done simply by brisk walking about five minutes to warm up your circulation, then you jog…not run, just jog for ten seconds. Count 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004. 1005 etc,
You will be breathing heavily. Then walk at a normal pace while your breath and heart slow down, then after ten to 15 seconds, jog again for ten seconds. Repeat this eight times; you will discover you have ran almost a kilometer in 15 minutes! Easy? Yes! -To become a Boy Scout you had a requirement to run twice around the block in 15 minutes. As an adult you can easily do this three times a week It’s “Pace.”
Back to Food: Eat as if your life depended on it. –for it does. The leading causes of death are now the diseases of the heart and blood ve4ssels and cancer, The late President of the Philippines, President Marcos died in Honolulu, I was told, soon after he ate two Big Macs, a double order of French Fries, and Coke. It caused acute indigestion. His health was already poor, and that high calorie, high fat, high salt meal, did him in. This I was told by someone close to him who was there.
We must avoid hydrogenated fats, less salt, , more fruits, whole grain breads and cereals, eat less sugar and junk food, avoid soft drinks, these can help reduce the risks, and even prevent the development of life shortening diseases.
The first real diet restriction should be just that; -don’t eat so much! Diet restriction is the only known method of increasing lifespan and slowing aging in warm blooded laboratory animals. Scientists have been able to extend lifespan by 40%. Whether similar very low calorie diets would have the same effect is unknown, and we enjoy eating until feeling full…of course the result is obesity. More than 50% of Americans are overweight, so restriction of amounts eaten obviously would seem to be logical and wise. Carrying around extra baggage in the form of fat is not healthy and adds strain on the heart, liver, and glandular system, so try to eat a little less.
This subject is so large that each blog is like just touching the tip of the iceberg. There are very specific foods to eat for long life, and there are some to avoid, or restrict.. Come back tomorrow for continuation of hints and corrections in lifestyle, if you want to know true facts on how you can slow down the results of aging, and be in better health. This is a vitally important subject. You may not believe anyone will live to be 120, but if you work at it, you will have a chance, and at least you will definitely benefit.
