Beginning now, some facts you need to know
Aging…premature aging must be slowed down if you make it.
This blog will begin a series on how to improve your health so death will stay away a l o n g l o n g time.
Lets take a look at one of the most detested results of aging; it is not the most serious but the one most visible, Aging skin.
The majority of my viewers ling in North America, so I will give some statistics for Americans.
Americans spend about 8 billion dollars a year for cosmetic procedures, face lifts, lotions, and sun-screen, trying to color, smooth, and conceal wrinkles. Then there is another 300 million dollars spent on anti-aging creams last year.
Meanwhile, Science has quietly given us the REAL answers for maintaining younger skin longer. The answer is essential fatty acids in our foods. Getting enough nutrition, with the right kind of fat in your diet, plus essential supplements is the best way. Rejuvenation must come from within, not from without by smearing lotion on top of your skin, although lotion may help a rash. But what causes a rash? Does your body lack the chemicals in that lotion? Of course not. A rash is caused by chemicals coming out your skin because your liver and kidneys have become overloaded getting rid of the dead stuff you ingest. And, if you need a little help on the outside, try some topical Vitamin C ointment.
When it comes to natural and nutritional remedies, there are usually few, if any, side effects. When you go a little further than skin deep, you’ll see what I mean. The US Surgeon General reports that 75 percent of cardiovascular disease and 60 percent of women’s cancers, and 40 percent of men’s cancers are related to diet and nutrition. In one way, that is good news! How is it good news? Because that’s more than we knew 25 years ago – and now we know so we can do something about it. That knowledge can point us in the right direction.
You don’t need to rely on the “miracle” drugs the pharmaceutical companies and doctors are trying to push on you when you once have the information you need to avoid the diseases altogether. And disease free aging means healthy aging – and healthy living – for much longer than our ancestors ever dreamed was possible. Why do people often die early? The often is simply because they expect to! I remember an example from my College Psychology class…gee, that 62 years ago! -my professor told the class of a man who was 42 years old, who said, men in my family don’t live very long; my father dies at age 43, my brother died at age 43, so I’ll also probably die at age 43…he did. Did you know your thoughts can influence how long you may live? It’s true.
I’m not trying to oversimplify the issue. There is a lot to know about how your body ages and what you can do to compensate for these natural declines that come with aging. Many reports and books have been written on this topic, how to combat aging, everything from how to hang on to your own teeth, to naturally preventing arthritis, to maintaining an active and healthy sex life, and the secrets on living longer. Most people don’t read them, but they are the things that can make a difference between just marking time and really living a full and active life at any age. At age 85 I am busier than ever, and enjoying every day, and I am planning, not to die,
But to work every day of the next 15 years, serving God, and helping people to make the right choices to live with an old age in mind as your target. Men would never have walked on the moon without first believing it to be possible
While there is no way of escaping the accumulation of years, we can control, prevent, and to some extent even reverse our biological age. As mentioned, modern technology has enabled our lifespan to increase beyond our wildest dreams of two generations ago. Today, thanks to better hygiene and sanitation, some infections caused by parasites may have decreased, but cancer and heart diseases have grown in percentage. The average lifespan is now 76 years, but that leaves us 44 years short of what scientists tell us our genes are programmed to last 120 years. I’ll go for that, to the best of my ability, and I would be stupid not to take the needed vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, in addition to observing the now known rules of health, good diet, exercise, proper rest, relaxation, meditation, and prayer, all of which are very important, and as I’ve humorously mentioned before, live carefully, “don’t fall off the roof.”
