REACHING 120 YEARS (Part 2)
Too many of us still die too young –about 40 years sooner than we need to.
Medical statistics tell us today that you can expect to live to age 76. but of course that is the average lifespan; you may fall short, or go past 76 years, depending on a lot of factors entered into an equation of your lifestyle, and exposure to parasites on the one hand, and your exposure to Doctors, on the other hand, and accidents, like my little joke, “don’t fall off your roof”.-which also means don’t drive your Ferrari 150 M.P.H on the freeway…those kind of things do shorten lifetimes!
Seriously, most of us can live to the ripe old age of 76 years. -but that still leaves us almost 40 years short of the maximum lifespan that scientists say is the outer limit of life that is the genetically determined characteristic of our species. It is also the numerical challenge for a handful of anti-aging researchers who are chipping away at the reasons we age in order to determine how we can; 1.) Slow down the process, 2) Postpone or avoid the major killer diseases, 3) Remain functionally younger longer, and, 4) just maybe push the maximum span to 120 years – and longer.
While there is considerable controversy about how to apply the information from this early life-extension research, (some experts say it is too early to say; others are more open minded there is enough evidence to warrant making several life-style changes. For even though life expectancy has increased,, many people still die too young from preventable diseases caused by parasites, and when we now have alternative and electronic means of killing parasites, it may take another hundred years to find out just how far we can push the maximum age, without parasites, and with proper nutrition put into the lifestyle….
No “double blind studies can be here to determine lifespan, but with mice there is a possible 40% increase above ‘normal’ lifespan. And despite the medical associations and USDA, who would deny changes in diet, exercise and supplementations are improving the quality and perhaps the quantity of years for many lives.
If you are new to the field of health, what’s ahead will give you some background on the most promising anti-aging theories and techniques, a practical guide to which vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients make a longevity difference., and a method of working with your physician to plan your own lifer-lengthening course. The potential benefits are great. In the short term they could include looking and feeling better with increased energy and clearer thinking; long term these things may lead to a healthier and more vital life, and lower the risks of degenerating or debilitating diseases In the quest for longevity you can in a sense become a super healthy pioneer. The choice is yours.
This blog is intended to jack-up your thinking to the next higher level, so that you can grasp the truth of really being able to change how long you will live. When I was in the Army Air Corp during WW.II, there was a saying among soldiers in combat, “I don’t have to worry about all the bullets, unless one of them has my name on it”. Of course that was not a true statement, and whether you got hit by a bullet was often because a soldier took a chance, ignored safety, or was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Among many Christian people today is a false belief, based on a misinterpretation of a Scripture, “There is a time to be born and a time to die” as saying that God already has set the time of your death and nothing can change it. Actually there is nothing in Scripture to back up that interpretation.
The time of our death depends upon how we live, what we eat, whether we take chances with our lives like walking across the street against the traffic light with cars whizzing by, whether we smoke one pack a day (or three) whether we use coke, speed, or other drugs, and there are a hundred other things you do, or not do, which determi8nes how long you might live.
Unfortunately, you have only one shot it…and the Scripture says. “If you sow to the flesh corruption, you will of the flesh reap corruption, for whatever you sow, that shall you reap.” Keep that in mind next time you light up a cigarette or get drunk. Other religions call it “Karma”. But if you are willing to make changes to really better your life, come back to this blog tomorrow for details that will specifically tell you details, what to do, to be healthy and live longer.
May God Bless you, in the Name of the Father, of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit.
